== Race and Subspecies System ==
Reference for prospective race mod authors for how the race and subspecies systems work.

Todo: stuff

=== Race and Subspecies Calculation ===
The game determines a character's race and subspecies based on their body, first determining a race, then checking the subspecies from among that race's subspecies.

For most races, the race is determined by checking what types of body parts a character has. Each relevant body part is given a weighting, given in the table below. Each body part type (such as a fox, wolf, or human face) is associated with a certain race (or given the neutral "None" race, to make it not affect this race calculation). Having any relevant demon part automatically sets the character's race as "Demon". Then, if all of the relevant parts are human (therefore the weighing only has "Human"), then the character's race is "Human". Otherwise, the highest weighting is chosen as the character's race.

A character's "RaceStage" (Lesser or Greater) is also calculated at this point. For non-demons, a character is a greater morph if all of the relevant parts are the same race, or a lesser morph if there are multiple races present in the relevant parts. For demons, a character is "greater" if they do not have any human parts. Humans get their own race stage, "Human".

Once the race is determined, the game next needs to determine which subspecies within that race matches the character. For each subspecies, there is a conditional "subspeciesWeighting" that checks specific aspects of a character's body and gives a weight. As an example, the weighting for the Tiger subspecies is shown below. The game first calculates the weight for each subspecies within the given race by choosing the highest nonzero weight as the subspecies. If none of the subspecies match by giving a nonzero weight, it will then attempt find it from all Subspecies in the game, and finally if it fails again, will just give "Human" as a fail-safe.
[[File:Tiger Subspecies Flowchart.png|none|thumb|Tiger Subspecies Weighting|border]]
There are a few exceptions to this overall process. Demons like Lilins can disguise themselves as other species by changing all of their parts to non-demon forms. Demonic characters have a special "demonOverride" value that tracks their actual demon subspecies and bypasses the normal race and subspecies calculation. This is how [[Lyssieth]] can appear outwardly human, but still be considered demonic for stat bonuses and offspring generation. Half-demons and slimes are subspecies that have the appearance of other subspecies. The game calculates their race and subspecies ''as if'' they were not demon or slime, then modifies the icons by recoloring them. Subspecies will have a special set of half-demon names, such as "vargr" for half-demon wolves. Slimes just get the regular subspecies name with "slime-" added to it.

As a worked example, a character has:

* Panther arms with striped fur
* Fox legs
* Panther ears with striped fur
* A horsecock
* No antennae, horns, wings or tail
* Human parts everywhere else.

First, the race is from part weighing, giving (4 Panther, 3 fox, 10 human), meaning the character is a Panther since they do not have demon parts, and do not have only Human in the weighing. Since there are multiple races in the weighing, they are a Lesser morph. Next, the subspecies weightings for each of the Panther subspecies (Lion, Tiger, Leopard, Snow Leopard) are calculated. Since the Lion, Leopard and Snow Leopard require plain, spotted/short and spotted/fluffy fur respectively, their weights are all zero. The highest weight is Tiger (since it requires striped fur), so it is picked as the subspecies. So in the end, this character is considered a "Lesser Tiger-morph".

The world of Lilith's Throne is populated by various races which is either based on animal or mythological creature. While all player started of as human, they can transform into other races though enchanted consumable or special process. Each races grants their own unique species bonus, some more than other.

Race and Subspecies System

Todo: stuff

Race and Subspecies Calculation

Part Weightings
Body Part Weight
Torso, Face 4
Arms, Legs 3
Antenna, Eyes, Ears, Hair, Tail, Wings, Horn 1
Breasts, Ass, Penis, Vagina 0 (not counted)

Once the race is determined, the game next needs to determine which subspecies within that race matches the character. For each subspecies, there is a conditional "subspeciesWeighting" that checks specific aspects of a character's body and gives a weight. As an example, the weighting for the Tiger subspecies is shown below. The game first calculates the weight for each subspecies within the given race by choosing the highest nonzero weight as the subspecies. If none of the subspecies match by giving a nonzero weight, it will then attempt find it from all Subspecies in the game, and finally if it fails again, will just give "Human" as a fail-safe.

Tiger Subspecies Weighting

There are a few exceptions to this overall process. Demons like Lilins can disguise themselves as other species by changing all of their parts to non-demon forms. Demonic characters have a special "demonOverride" value that tracks their actual demon subspecies and bypasses the normal race and subspecies calculation. This is how Lyssieth can appear outwardly human, but still be considered demonic for stat bonuses and offspring generation. Half-demons and slimes are subspecies that have the appearance of other subspecies. The game calculates their race and subspecies as if they were not demon or slime, then modifies the icons by recoloring them. Subspecies will have a special set of half-demon names, such as "vargr" for half-demon wolves. Slimes just get the regular subspecies name with "slime-" added to it.

As a worked example, a character has:

  • Panther arms with striped fur
  • Fox legs
  • Panther ears with striped fur
  • A horsecock
  • No antennae, horns, wings or tail
  • Human parts everywhere else.

Trivia

  • Snake-morph is the only subspecies which has the same name as its race, but is not the main subspecies of its race.
  • Octopus is so far the only race considered to be Aquatic.
  • The Slimes' consumable, Biojuice Canister, is the only food which will transform player race when eaten unenchanted. The potion enchanted from that item reverts slime back to normal flesh instead.
  • Dragon is the only race with multiple consumables that can be enchanted to transform into the same race.
    • The differences between the subspecies, other than their appearance, are in their subspecies status effect stat buffs. Their enchantment options between the different dragon racial items are the same.
